Opening Ceremony of Chinese Intangible Cultural Heritage and Artistic Masterpieces Exhibition was successfully held at Expo 2023 Doha, Qatar

International Horticultural Expo 2023 Doha, Qatar (hereinafter referred to as "Expo 2023 Doha") is approved by the International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH) as an A1 category international horticultural exhibition, recognized by the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), and hosted by the State of Qatar. The opening ceremony took place in the scenic Al Bidda Park, which is the core area of Doha, the capital of Qatar.

Qatar's Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad AI Thani patronized the opening ceremony of the Expo 2023 Doha, in the presence of a number of Their Excellencies and Highnesses heads of state and government along with representatives of brotherly and friendly countries.

Spanning from October 2, 2023 to March 28, 2024, Expo 2023 Doha offers an extensive 179-day program, covering an impressive area of 1.7 million square metres. Expo 2023 Doha is expected to attract over 3 million international visitors and organisers from 80 countries.

The chosen theme for Expo 2023 Doha is “Green Desert, Better Environment” and the sub themes are "ModernAgriculture, Technology and Innovation, Environmental Awareness, andSustainability". Expo 2023 Doha is set to make history as the first A1International Horticultural Exhibition in Qatar, the Middle East, and NorthAfrica. The Expo will showcase innovative, sustainable, cultural, and entertainmentexperiences, welcoming the world to attend a grand event that is about tocreate history. Here, visitors will be treated to a captivating experience thatincludes ornamental gardens, live shows, and exquisite artworks. 

This year marks the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Qatar and China. Expo 2023 Doha specially sets up an independent exhibition area for Chinese culture. On October 2, 2023 at 14:00 (Beijing time at 19:00), Chinese Intangible Cultural Heritage and Artistic Masterpieces Exhibition, located in the cultural area of the Expo 2023 Doha opened successfully at the expo site. This exhibition is hosted by the Organizing Committee of Expo 2023 Doha, Qatar, and organized by China Qatar Commercial Center and the Chinese Association in Qatar（CAQ）. The first batch of exhibits cover traditional Chinese intangible cultural heritage such as embroidery, porcelain, jade carving, lacquer, wood carving, silver ware, and cloisonne. This exhibition is a public welfare exhibition, and all exhibits do not involve any commercial or sales activities. All exhibits are genuine handicrafts and art works handmade by inheritors of intangible cultural heritage selected from across China.
